For Scottish schools
GIRFEC wellbeing, tracked properly — not bolted onto an EHCP-shaped system.
Scotland's Additional Support for Learning framework doesn't work like England's. There's no EHCP, and additional support needs are defined far more broadly than SEND — anything that creates a barrier to a child's learning counts. Most support runs through a Child's Plan under GIRFEC (Getting It Right For Every Child), coordinated by a Named Person, with the statutory Co-ordinated Support Plan (CSP) reserved for a much smaller number of children with complex, multi-agency needs. OMNIA reflects that shape from the ground up.
Child's Plans, wellbeing indicators, and CSPs — kept distinct
OMNIA tracks Universal, Targeted and Intensive support levels against the SHANARRI wellbeing indicators GIRFEC actually uses, and keeps the small number of statutory, Education-Authority-issued CSPs stored separately as read-only references — so the platform never conflates a school-level Child's Plan with a legally different, EA-maintained CSP.
Built around GIRFEC's joined-up model, not against it
Where a Child's Plan or CSP involves education, health and social work simultaneously — which GIRFEC assumes as normal, not exceptional — OMNIA's wellbeing domains are structured to span all three, rather than forcing Scotland's genuinely joined-up model into England's separated education/health/social-care sections. A dedicated view showing exactly which named agency owns which piece of support is on our roadmap.
Three things Scottish ASN Coordinators ask for first
- GIRFEC-native Child's Plans. Wellbeing indicators and the Named Person's coordination role, not an imported EHCP taxonomy.
- A clean line between Child's Plans and CSPs. Know exactly which children have a statutory, Education-Authority-issued CSP versus a school-coordinated Child's Plan.
- A model built for joined-up support. Wellbeing domains spanning education, health and social work by design, with named agency ownership views next on our roadmap.
The honest position
OMNIA does not replace the Named Person, the Education Authority, or a CSP it doesn't hold the pen on. It's the platform that keeps Child's Plans current, keeps CSP review dates on schedule, and makes multi-agency support visible — so the ASN Coordinator can spend their time on coordination, not chasing paperwork.
