For Irish schools

NCSE-aligned IEPs, honest about what current Irish law actually entitles a child to.

Here's a fact most SEND software quietly ignores: the individual-plan provisions of the EPSEN Act 2004 have never been commenced. There is no statutory entitlement to an Individual Education Plan in the Republic of Ireland today — IEPs are produced under NCSE guidance, not law. OMNIA says that plainly rather than dressing an IEP up as something with legal weight it doesn't have.

The Continuum of Support, as NCSE actually defines it

OMNIA tracks pupils through NCSE's three-tier Continuum of Support — Classroom Support, School Support and School Support Plus — using NCSE's own terminology throughout, rather than relabelling an English graduated-response model. IEPs at School Support and School Support Plus are tagged against the exact structure NCSE's 2006 Guidelines recommend — present level of performance, learning targets, strategies and resources, personnel and review — using the same plan editor every OMNIA jurisdiction shares, not a separate Irish-only form.

A Special Education Teacher's caseload, not a SENCo's

Irish schools staff this differently to England too — a Special Education Teacher (SET) allocation, not a single SENCo role. OMNIA relabels the coordinator role as SET throughout, and caseload views work against NCSE's Continuum tiers. Dedicated SET-hours allocation and timetabling is on our roadmap — not yet a separate built feature.

Three things Irish SETs ask for first

  • NCSE-terminology IEPs, not relabelled EHCPs. Present level of performance, targets, strategies and review — structured the way NCSE guidance actually describes.
  • Continuum-of-Support tracking. Classroom Support, School Support and School Support Plus, visible across your whole caseload.
  • Honesty about statutory status. No plan presented as a legal entitlement it isn't — so nobody's caught out at a parent meeting.

The honest position

OMNIA does not replace the SET, the NCSE, or professional judgment about what a child needs. It's the platform that keeps Continuum-of-Support tracking current and IEPs well-evidenced — without ever overstating what Irish law currently requires.
