Evidence-informed practice
New SEND research, EEF guidance, and statutory updates, curated by the OMNIA team. Only studies and guidance with relevance to school practice appear here.
A study of 242 interventions used across a school cluster found that 67% had no published evidence of effectiveness and 3% had causal evidence of being actively ineffective (Pegram et al, Review of Education, 2022). OMNIA helps schools use what works.
Methodology caveat (Hattie §5.1). Visible Learning effect sizes are population averages across many studies and contexts; they should not be read as the expected gain for an individual pupil. They also vary in study quality, age range and outcome measure, and an influence rated below the d = 0.40 hinge point can still be the right call for a specific pupil. Always triangulate with MetaSENse, EEF and pupil-level monitoring.
